Microsoft felt like reminding its Windows Insider Program subscribers of the potential issues associated with flights in the development channel since they have not yet been adequately tested. The Microsoft Insider program has reverted this channel back to receiving updates from the RS_PRERELEASE channel – which is the most active of all the channels. In addition, Microsoft has been reminding users to update their Dev channel builds to the latest versions before they expire. Dev builds are now scheduled to expire so users subscribed to the developer channel no longer need to do so. Here’s how to shift to the stable release of Windows 11 from Insider Preview releases. As we move forward, let us examine the improvements that have been made to Build 22471 as well as the issues it may cause if you update your system to this build.

Updates and fixes

Here is the changelog for Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 22471:

To better communicate how TabletInputService has evolved over time, Microsoft has renamed it to TextInputManagementService.

[Taskbar]

A problem was resolved that caused the hidden icons flyout in the Taskbar to occasionally have sharp corners rather than rounded corners. If you click the down arrow when you interact with the desktop flyout’s context menu, you will now be able to move the focus down the menu instead of dismissing it.

[File Explorer]

Occasionally, explorer.exe would crash when closing File Explorer windows.

[Input]

An issue with voice typing can cause an error message to appear claiming that there is a problem with the network connection, even when the problem is not related to the network connection. When you use the touch keyboard with the Kana key mode for the Japanese IME, the key labels will now display the character that will be entered when you hold Shift.Textinputhost.exe was sometimes crashing due to a race condition.

[Windowing]

By typing wt in the Run dialog, Windows Terminal will now open in the foreground instead of the background. This release addresses an issue that could result in applications getting stuck in a minimized state after disconnecting an external monitor and restarting the system.

Performance should be improved on websites utilizing HTTP/3.Fixed an issue with some devices not updating to a newer build due to an error code 0xc1900101.Windows Update’s “reboot needed” dialog has been updated to indicate Windows 11 as the operating system. As a result of this change, you will only be able to see the results when you are prompted to reboot prior to your next flight, as you must be on a build that contains the update.A DWM crash that could occur when enabling a contrast theme has been fixed. For ARM64 PCs, an issue was fixed which could lead to certain apps not responding to display language changes if they had been installed prior to the upgrade to Windows 11.Resolved an issue where the memory priority of explorer.exe when launched from a higher priority process was too low, affecting all subsequent processes.
